The Magnetic Particle Testing – Level I & II NDT training course has been specifically designed to meet the stringent requirements outlined by ASNT SNT-TC-1A and customer-specific documents for training and certification. This comprehensive course aims to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills required to perform magnetic particle testing, a widely employed non-destructive testing method.
Magnetic Particle Testing is primarily utilized for the detection of surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials such as iron, nickel, cobalt, and their alloys. This method is particularly effective in identifying cracks and other surface irregularities that may compromise the integrity of the material.
During the test, the sample is magnetized either locally or overall. If there is a surface-breaking defect, the magnetic field becomes distorted, leading to flux leakage around the defect. This leakage flux is made visible by applying very fine iron particles either in a dry form or suspended in a liquid medium. The particles accumulate at the regions of flux leakage, creating a visible indication of the crack or defect as a line of iron powder particles on the surface.
Magnetic Particle Testing employs various techniques, including the prod technique, yoke technique, and multidirectional magnetization technique (Head Shot Method). These techniques allow for targeted magnetization of the material and enhance the detection sensitivity for specific types of defects.
The Magnetic Particle Testing – Level I & II NDT training course covers a wide range of topics, including magnetizing techniques, the behavior of materials when magnetized, current requirements for magnetization, magnetizing equipment, types of medium used, and interpretation and evaluation of various product flaws.
By adhering to the guidelines set by ASNT SNT-TC-1A and customer-specific documents, the training course ensures that participants receive industry-standard education and are well-equipped to perform magnetic particle testing in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
Upon successful completion of the Magnetic Particle Testing – Level II training course, participants will have acquired in-depth knowledge and expertise in magnetizing techniques, understanding the behavior of materials during magnetization, selecting appropriate current requirements, operating magnetizing equipment, choosing the suitable medium, and accurately interpreting and evaluating different types of product flaws.
Obtaining certification through this training course enhances individuals' professional qualifications and expands their career prospects within the non-destructive testing field, specifically in the realm of magnetic particle testing.
